High Intensity HCLs
Aurora's unique High Intensity Hollow Cathode Lamps (HIHCLs) overcome the fundamental limitations of standard hollow cathode lamps. In these lamps a secondary discharge is struck between an efficient electron emitter and the anode. The secondary discharge ensures that the majority of the atoms at the face of the cathode are excited and that very few atoms remain in the ground state. This eliminates self-absorption effects and improves both the sensitivity and linearity during analysis.

Furthermore, the line width of these HIHCLs is narrower than those of standard lamps, even at higher current. As a result improved signal to noise ratios are observed.

These lamps are compatible with Super Lamp Systems.

High Intensity 
Our lamps are specially designed to emit high intensity at the recommended operating current, resulting in low Signal-to-Noise ratio and excellent performance.

Low Operating Current 
Our lamps may be operated at only half of the instrument manufacturer's recommended current for sufficient intensity, resulting in long lifetime of the lamps. 

Quality Control 
Varsal utilizes Total Quality Control (TQC) to monitor, control and inspect every single step of the hollow cathode lamp manufacturing process. The materials are carefully selected in our manufacturing to avoid spectral interference from fill gas or impurities in the cathode material.

Every lamp is thoroughly tested prior to shipment. Under same testing conditions, the radiation intensity of every lamp is equal to or better than those made by other vendors.

Warranty
All hollow cathode lamps are warranted for a standard 2-year limited warranty. Each regular element lamp carries a 5000 mA-Hour warranty (such as Cu, Ni, Ca, MG, etc). Each volatile element lamp carries a 3000 mA-Hour warranty (such as As, Se, Sb, Bi, Pb, Cd, etc). Varsal will replace any lamp that does not perform to its specification during this period assuming the lamp was properly used.

1.5" Hollow Cathode Lamp 

• Regular 1.5" lamps for all systems except Perkin-Elmer system.
• Self-reversal 1.5" lamps for Shimadzu, Thermal Jarrel Ash, LEEMAN Labs whose AAS system requires self-reversal background correction abilities.
• Even though Varian systems do not require self-reversal lamps, they are suggested and recommended because of longer life time and higher intensity.

 2" Hollow Cathode Lamp 

• Uncoded (regular) 2" lamps can be used for all Perkin-Elmer atomic absorption spectrometers. Some models do require different conversion cables.
• Some models use a 9 - pin connector while the AAnalyst Series use a 4-pin connector as pictured below. Please select the right lamp as pictured below for your instrument.
